Horse Riding to Lose Weight
To be a horse rider does not just include sitting on a horse, in fact, this sport works your entire body.
While riding you are basically using your core the whole time to keep upright, your legs are working to keep the horse balanced and moving and your arms are held in a steady position. If holding all of that together for over 30 minutes at a time, doesn't make you sweat I don't know what will.
Have you ever held a plank so long that you start to puff or wall sat till the sweat was pouring off you? The same is true with riding. Consistently holding muscles in place is hard work and causes the fat to just fall away.
Because riding competently revolves around the stability and balance of the rider, core strength is essential. Basically, the core holds the whole rider's position in place and allows for other key components of riding to become possible. For example, if the rider is balanced, they then can have independent and still hand, and the only way a rider can be balanced is if they engage their core.
From experience, I know that riding regularly keeps me in shape. It doesn't always cause weight loss but it certainly keeps it off and keep you generally fit.
